June 2018-November 2019

It’s been over a year since posting to our blog. Why? We were super busy and just didn’t keep up with blogging. Bob kept a daily log (see previous postings) then stopped around mid-June 2018. So here are highlights since then to catch you up.

Summer 2018

After visiting Four Corners Monument, we headed into Colorado to see Great Sand Dunes National Park, Garden of the Gods Park, Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center, Manitou Springs, Denver Zoo, Boulder (with Areeya and Ed), Denver Art Museum, and Rocky Mountain National Park.

Continuing eastward, we stopped at the OZ Museum, Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City (good BBQ), Route 66 Drive-in Theatre, Hot Springs National Park (with Marta and Isabel), Memphis, Red Bay AL (to service our Tiffin RV), Tupelo, Nashville, Mammoth Cave, Churchill Downs, Louisville (with Tom), Lexington KY (with Hung Le and Mike), Cumberland MD, Moscow PA (with Cindy, Howard and family), Eastford CT (at Peppertree Campground), then made it home in mid-August 2018 to Cape Cod MA.

A trip with my parents and brother to Ohio was long overdue, so in late August 2018 we flew out to see our family and cousins after many years. So grateful to have this time together and reunite my dad with his siblings.

In October 2018, we flew to Germany to visit our friends, Greg and Gloria (our Marlboro neighbors) who have been living there for 2 years. We had an amazing time exploring their town of Ettlingen, visiting Baden-Baden, Dusseldorf, Paris France and other cities nearby.

Winter 2018

In November of 2018, we headed south to Florida and zig-zagged across the state visiting family and friends. Milestones included: Myrtle Beach (with Tom and Barb; Uncle Mike and Deb), Brookgreen Gardens, Skidaway Island, Tybee Island, Savannah, Mount Dora (with Patricia), Alexander Springs Rec Area (with Jenny and Todd), Stuart (with Ben, Loretta, Chris, Anita, Chris, Genie and sons), the Florida Keys (Big Pine Key for Christmas), Dry Tortugas National Park (with Alyssa), Miami, Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden, Everglades National Park (with Anne and Neil), Wynwood Walls, snorkeling in Key Largo, Highlands Hammock State Park, Punta Gorda (with Ann and Mike), Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, Sarasota, Myakka River State Park, Fort Myers, Sun City Center (with Joe and John and Donna), Tampa, Titusville and Merritt Island (with Mary), Canaveral National Seashore, Satellite Beach (Gloria), Daytona Beach (with Carol and Ken), St. Augustine (with Cliff and Rick), Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens (with Cliff, Laura and Lamar). So many fun memories and can only fit some of the photos.

In mid-March we started our trip back North, stopping in Georgia to see Blythe Island and Jekyll Island. Then up to Congaree National Park, Santee State Park, Little Pee Dee State Park, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden (with Donna), Westmoreland State Park, Washington DC, Leonardtown (with Lisa and Dave), and Worthington State Forest.

April – November 2019

We returned to Cape Cod in April 2019 to see the family for Easter then stayed at Normandy Farms Campground in Foxboro from May 1 – Nov 1, 2019. During that timeframe, I was able to work with Pumpkin Brook Organic Gardening again doing landscaping 2 days a week. It was so wonderful to dig in the dirt again with fellow co-workers! I missed gardening on the road so it was also an opportunity to do some container gardening at the campground. My attempt to grow veggies in 20 pots was fun but not productive.

Normandy Farms is a great place to camp with many amenities! 4 pools, hot tubs, sauna, tennis courts, bocce, disc golf, massage, shuffle board, basketball, and so many activities that your head will spin. Voted among the top 13 campgrounds in the world!

We had lots of visitors and were able to see many friends and family in the area during our 6-month stay. It was wonderful to catch up with everybody near and far. Weekends were full visiting family at the Cape, Boston, Gloucester, CT, and NY which is the way Summer’s are meant to be.

A quick visit to Acadia National Park (with Neil and Anne) in September gave us another stamp in our Park Passport and a sticker on our State Map. Now our count is up to 37 National Parks and 41 states!

When asked “what are your favorite National Parks,” my response is usually Rocky Mountain, Zion, and Bryce. It’s hard to pick because all of the National Parks are amazing in their own way.

As we head out on the road again, we feel grateful to continue this traveling lifestyle, see more of this beautiful country, and reconnect with family and friends. How long are we doing this? Good question, something we ask ourselves often.
