We’ve returned to New England, put away our shorts and sandals, and now have our winter jackets, hats, and rain gear out. Our intention was to bring back some sunshine and warm weather with us but we were all pranked on April 1 with a nasty ice/snow storm instead. The driving was so bad that we ended up staying in a hotel at UCONN after shopping with Alyssa. $250 for a night of safety and a sleepover with our daughter … priceless!
It was 3 or 4 long days of driving to get from New Orleans to Connecticut but we had some nice stopovers in Chattanooga, TN and Shenandoah National Park to break up the trip. We walked through the caverns of Lookout Mountain to see Ruby Falls which is a 145′ underground waterfall, then had an amazing dinner at Alleia restaurant near the Chattanooga Choo-choo.
The next day we took a “much needed” hike in Shenandoah. Still early Spring in the mountains and nothing blooming yet but a great place to get out and reunite with nature’s beauty.
Currently we are staying at Sweetwater Forest campground in Brewster on Cape Cod and spending time with my parents. We came back earlier than planned since mom was in the hospital with electrolyte imbalances. She is now home and recovering. It’s good to be together again and look forward to seeing more family and friends during the next couple of months while we are home. Watch out … we might just land in your driveway soon!!!
